Congratulations to our Washington All-State Music Performers 

On Saturday, February 13, the Junior All-State Orchestra, Band, Choir and Youth chorus rehearsed all day, then presented a concert in the late afternoon.  Performing were Nicholas Culbert (Orchestra); Tammy Eydelman, Bhavani Kotha, and Clovis Wong (Band); and Sonja Johnson-Yu, Emma Radich and Cole Tsang (Choir).  All-State Youth Chorus members were Sonya Ahuja, Ada Campbell, Samantha Goad, Ellen Hanna, Gladys Hilerio, Allie Hill, Inbar Kodesh, Julia Noble, Derek Wulf, and Emma Youmans.

High School All-State Festival performers Kevin Birrell (All-State Wind Ensemble), Natalie Chin and Lizzy Pedersen (All-State Chamber Orchestra) Jiho Kang and Claire Webster (All-State Orchestra) and Lauren Ambielli, Serena Liu and Daniel Osterman (All-State Symphonic Choir) arrived in Yakima on Friday with hundreds of other exceptional musicians from all over Washington state.  Their three days of intensive rehearsals under nationally-known conductors culminated in performances on Monday. 

Northlake Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival

Seventeen students from Overlake’s Music program gave wonderful performances at the Northlake Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, February 6 at Lake Washington High School. 

By the end of the day, Brian Sandstrom ('12) had won the Baritone division and will go to Ellensburg for the State competition in April.  Kevin Birrell ('11) took 1^st Alternate on snare drum and Jeffrey Lee ('13) was named 1^st Alternate in Violin.  And Natalie Chin ('10) won 2^nd Alternate on Viola, and Claire Webster ('12) claimed 2^nd Alternate on cello.
